Common sense?
Rant blog.
I am now in my 3rd year. And still I cannot get over the sheer lack of common sense in this university. We’re supposedly very intelligent people and yet so many people lack the capacity to think in REAL TERMS.
For all of you non warwicks, this is not merely a “people annoy me” post (although it is partially fuelled by the general idiocy of some of my aquaintances). But our union council, the union council that I’m ashamed to say I sit on, has banned Barcardi because its “unethical” while not fully understanding the consequences.There is no such thing as an international company that is fully ethicially sound, even innocent has had a few bumpy moments. And we still sell coca-cola. How is that logical?!
We have lost so much sponsership for our ents dept. And we have lost so many drinks that are really popular including disaronno, because whoever supported the DAMN policy didn’t look up what other drinks Barcardi fecking own.
Oh, and then the Boar (our newspaper) has decided to go hunt down barcardi for a bloody quote on the whole thing. So now, even though we’ve put it up to a general student body vote that’ll get the policy overturned, we’re unlikely to get as much sponsorship from them, I mean why will they want to sponser a union that tried to FUCKING BAN THEM?!
